Physical Therapy
|
Physical Therapy is concerned with the assessment and treatment of disease and disability through physical means. Physical Therapists use the properties of heat, light, water, gravity, sound and electricity to alleviate pain and restore function. Physical Therapists treat a wide range of diseases and disorders of the musculoskeletal and neurologic systems. Patients seen by physical therapists may be suffering from disability following a stroke or other neurological disorder such as Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis or head or spinal cord injury. Physical Therapists also treat patients who are suffering from neck or back pain or who have had an injury to bones, muscles, ligaments or joints. Physical therapists frequently treat patients following orthopedic surgery or prolonged hospital stays. A prescription from a physician is required for physical therapy treatment.
